Name Change in Dominica
Our name change service supports CBIU citizens under the 2024 regulations, which largely restrict name changes except for marriage. We help prepare and submit the required documents to legally update your naturalization certificate and passport.
Previous Regulations
Prior to these strict measures, there was a provision allowing CBI applicants to change their names via deed poll after maintaining residency in Dominica for three years. However, this has been revoked in the new legislation aimed at preventing identity laundering and abuse of the CBI program.
Timeframe for Name Change Requests
If a CBI citizen changes their name within five years of receiving their certificate of naturalization, they may be deprived of their citizenship under sections 10 (2) or (3) of the CBI Act 202415. In summary, while it was previously possible for CBI citizens to change their names under certain conditions, the current regulations impose significant restrictions that effectively prevent most name changes without risking citizenship status.
